FAQ

Most Frequently Asked Questions

HOW LONG WILL THE INSTALLATION OF THE KITCHEN CABINETS TAKE?

Cabinet box installation usually requires just 1 or 2 days; cabinet doors are hung later to avoid damage. This will require approximately one day for the final installation.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO PREPARE MY KITCHEN FOR THE INSTALLATION?

The kitchen area should be primed, and any overlay floor materials should be installed. Tile, linoleum, or pre-finished wood floor goes in after cabinet box installation. Finished-in-place hardwood floors go in prior to box installation.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STOCK, SEMI-CUSTOM, AND CUSTOM CABINETS?

Stock — Stock cabinet manufacturers offer a full range of cabinets in specified sizes. With stock cabinets, you “get what you pay for”. Some of the cheaper lines use doors of mismatched or lower-quality wood. They may use thin laminates or actual paper products that simulate wood on finished sides. The case parts may be only glued together with no mechanical fasteners to ensure durability over the life expectancy of the piece.

Semi-Custom — Semi-custom cabinets are produced by both stock and custom manufacturers. This product combines the advantage of an assembly line process with the ability to create some limited special sizes with some attention toward the importance of style.

Custom — Custom cabinet manufacturers make one kitchen at a time. The cabinets are not produced until the kitchen has been designed and all details are finalized. These totally custom “built-to-order” kitchens are considered premier “furniture grade” cabinet systems. These manufacturers generally offer the latest technology, construction methods, and case materials, the most extensive array of accessories available, and a long history of excellence in service as well as in product.

HOW LONG UNTIL THE COUNTERTOPS ARE INSTALLED?

With such a wide range of tops available, timing will vary. Laminate tops will be installed approximately 2 to 3 days after box installation. Granite tops require approximately 1 to 2 weeks for delivery

HOW DO I CLEAN AND CARE FOR MY NEW CABINETS?

  • To remove dust, simply wipe the surface with a cloth dampened with cleaning polish or mild detergent.

  • To remove fingerprints, cooking fumes, and smoking residue, just wipe the surface with a cloth dampened with a non-wax polish or mild detergent solution. Avoid the use of ammonia-based products or silicone oils, as they may cause damage if used over a long period of time.

  • The finish is durable and resistant to most household spills. However, spills should be wiped up promptly to avoid potential problems.

  • Excessive prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, high temperatures and high humidity can cause damage to both the finish and the wood itself. These should be avoided.

WHAT IS THE HALLMARK WARRENTY?
